Be Here Now by Ram Dass
My Review
Baba Ram Das (formerly known as Richard Alpert) is a highly evolved being who has covered much ground in the spiritual latter of his life. This is the account of his journey from Harvard Professor to Spiritual Devotee of Maharaj-ji (Shri Neem Karoli Baba).
(I've affectionately titled the three parts of the book according to its content)
Part I - The Transformation Part II - The Portrayal Part II - The Recipe
Part I - Details his success as a modern man trapped in a rational world view. He had it all, yet felt wanting.
Part II - Completely illustrated on recycled paper, this is one of the most profound assemblies of visual beauty and autobiographical story telling.
Part III - Practical, concise, and expansive accounts of all aspects involved in living the spiritual life.
All of his work has an overwhelming sense of compassion.
Pg. 97, (broken from its visual assembly) reads:
"Watch it! But at first when you see - You want to run down the streets shouting - Spreading the good news - Run down the aisles of churches yelling: LISTEN TO THOSE WORDS YOU'RE SINGING!! It's really here! They're all true! You're singing about it all "Just like the book says!" Don't be psychotic: Watch it. Watch it."
I highly recommend this book to any person exploring spiritual expansion.
